In the spotlight: 6 reasons why you need a head torch this winter

A head torch is the one accessory you never knew you needed – until now! Not only will having one help you to see, but it’ll help others to see you. Plus, it could prove very useful when you need both hands free.

GP’s head torches are lightweight, water resistant and fit perfectly on your head (shake your head – it’ll stay put!). Here are six compelling reasons to treat yourself or a loved one to one this winter:

1. Light up your runs

You don’t have to ditch running outside just because it’s dark, but there are some extra steps you can take to stay safe. They include investing in a decent head torch which will illuminate your route to make sure it’s hazard-free. You’ll essentially be running with a light around your head, so it’s much more practical than holding a torch in your hand. Head torches should be no heavier than 200g for running; GP’s come in at around 110g!

2. ...and your dog walks

If walking your dog regularly leads you off the beaten track, a head torch is essential for navigating uneven terrain and avoiding stray tree roots. GP’s head torches have an adjustable angle, so you can direct light where you need to illuminate your path. This will make it much easier to find the frisbee if your dog fails to fetch it!

3. Enjoy your garden after work

Gardens still need tending to over the winter months. Whether you’re raking up leaves or digging out weeds, a head torch will mean you can work on your garden in the the late afternoon/early evening, using both hands as you work your green-fingered magic! Torch brightness is measured in lumens, which start at around 80 and go up to over 1000. GP’s are all 200-300 lumens, making them great all-rounders. GP’s Multi-Purpose head torch even has a red LED night-vision mode for low-impact, night-time activities.

4. Tick off some DIY tasks

The winter months are the perfect time to tick off some indoor DIY tasks. Many of these will benefit from a head torch with an adjustable angle – whether you’re heading under the sink, up to the loft or up the chimney in preparation for Santa’s arrival! A head torch will free up both of your hands so you can make “light work” of your tasks!

5. Use it in emergencies

Winter’s wet, windy and freezing cold weather increases the possibility of a power cut, so it’s best to be prepared. Having a head torch nearby will help you to navigate your way around the house in the pitch-black. GP’s torches last up to 69 hours, so plenty of time to restore electricity in your house!

6. Take it on winter adventures

If you love getting outdoors in winter and have some fun activities up your sleeve – like fell running, caving, mountain biking or hiking – a head torch will become your ultimate adventure companion. If we see the white stuff again this year, you might even find yourself using it for an after-work tobogganing session with friends and family!
