Give the gift of adventure this Valentine’s Day !

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, so if you’re yet to plan how you’re going to show your other half just how much you love them, it’s time to get a move on!

This year, why not ditch the clichéd red roses and meal-for-two and do something different? Instead of buying a bunch of flowers that’ll last a week, why not organise a day-long adventure and create memories that will last years? Here’s some inspiration…

For animal lovers: visit the zoo

Who said zoos are just for kids? Spend a day getting up close and personal with some exotic animals at your local zoo. Listen in on one of the talks, where you’ll get to learn all about the zoo’s conservation efforts and find out more about certain species. If you’re lucky, you both might get to hold one of the residents – heaven for any animal lover!

For bike fanatics: take a ride

If there’s one thing the UK isn’t short of, it’s picture-perfect cycling trails. Choose a coastal route or head inland for a cross-country ride – or, if you both have mountain bikes, why not put your skills to the test and take on some forest trails? Complete your day out by tucking into some hearty grub at a cosy, country pub (you’ve earned it, after all).

For culture vultures: go explore

Take a trip to a nearby city or town that’s been on your mutual must-visit list. While away the day soaking in the sights and visiting museums and galleries. For a bit of fun, find out if there are any quirky tours you can get involved in. Bath, for example, offers a comedy walk through the city if you fancy a bit of hysterical mixed with historical!

For foodies: try foraging

Taking part in a cookery class is fun but doesn’t qualify as an adventure, so why not turn it up a notch and head outdoors to find your dinner? Foraging has become increasingly popular in recent years, and there are lots of day-long courses dedicated to educating people about nature’s bounty. Once you’ve learned what you can and cannot pick and eat, you’ll be scouring the undergrowth for dinner ingredients every time you’re outdoors!

For adrenaline junkies: embrace a new challenge together

Get your pulses racing as a pair by embarking on an extreme activity. Head to the skies and go zip lining or bungee jumping; take to the waters and try white-water rafting or scuba diving; or venture into the deep, dark depths on a caving trip.

Adventure right with GP

Before you set off on your adventure, be sure to equip yourself with some all-essential GP products. First up, GP’s PowerBanks will keep the battery life on your tech topped up: ideal if you plan to use your smartphone or camera to document your Valentine’s Day adventure.

If you expect your day to last well into the evening, make sure you’re prepared by packing one of our powerful beam torches. Our durable beam range utilises Cree LED, meaning they shine brighter and longer than typical torches on the market.

Whether it’s on Valentine’s Day itself or an adventure planned for a future weekend, getting outdoors with your loved one is the perfect way to spend quality time together.
